In the event of injury or sudden illness, failure to provide first aid could result in a casualty’s death. The employer should ensure that an employee who is injured or taken ill at work receives immediate attention.

What does the course cover?

• roles and responsibilities of a first aider
• assessing an incident
• unconscious casualties
• cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• choking
• external bleeding
• shock
• minor injuries

In addition to the core subjects above our trainers will include additional topics relevant to your business.

Who is the course for?

 The CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work may be more suitable for lower-risk work environments, such as offices and shops and/or organisations with fewer than 100 employees. For regulatory purposes, successfully completing the CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work will enable the candidate to act as a first aider in the workplace.

How long does the course last?

1 day – 9.30am – 4pm

How is the course assessed?

Candidates must participate in all three assessment activities, complete a test paper and demonstrate competence in first-aid procedures for the management of a casualty:

• Who is unresponsive and breathing normally (recovery position)

• Who is unresponsive and not breathing normally (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

• With external bleeding and who is in shock

How long is the certificate valid for?

The CIEH Emergency First Aid at Work course last for 3 years.

In October 2009 the requirements for first aid training in the workplace changed. All our CIEH courses comply with the new changes.
